Be a Boss: the women’s entrepreneurs’ forum

Last updated:

Be a Boss is an event that aims to highlight female entrepreneurship and reward the startup of the year with its “Be A Boss Award”.

The boost for women entrepreneurs

The Be A Boss initiative aims to shed light on the commitments and struggles of women in the world of entrepreneurship, in line with the Bordeaux incubator “The Firsts”, based in Darwin, which supports and supports startup projects created by women.

The concept of Be A boss revolves around three key objectives:

  • To increase women’s entrepreneurial ambitions by rewarding and highlighting the initiatives selected by the jury.
  • Select the startups of tomorrow that will have a significant impact on the economic and/or social ecosystem.
  • Support companies and initiatives that offer new and ambitious ideas.

The event is supported by Digital Business News. This organization works on promoting startups and their innovative ideas. Digital Business News offers its expertise to understand new trends and develop its new business.

The 3rd edition, an important step before the Paris final

The Stopover of the third edition of The Third Be a Boss will be held on March 26, 2018 in line with its selection process for the startup of the year.

Spread over 5 stages, Be a boss’s journey criss-crosss France in 5 cities to finish in Paris with the presentation and award of the startup of the year and receive the Be A Boss Award.

The notoriety of the event is there because last year, 600 startuppers were able to participate and present their projects and attend forums. 200 candidate projects also accompanied the event, which was sponsored by some 30 partners and 8 sponsors wishing to support entrepreneurial initiatives.

This year’s program, the Bordeaux stage, features an interview with the deputy mayor of Bordeaux Virginie Calmels, as well as a panel discussion of three Bordeaux entrepreneurs, which will testify to their background and experience.

Another roundtable on the role and purpose of incubators is planned. Increasingly present, the role of incubators is decisive in the ripening of commercial projects. Each incubator offering different services, three incubator managers will be there to witness and present their incubator and the specifics that differentiate them.

Be A boss Award: the award for the most beautiful initiatives

The Be A Boss Award recognizes startups founded or co-founded by women. Each stage is an opportunity for 7 shortlisted startups to present their projects and initiatives to a jury that will choose 2 of them for the Paris final.

This final will welcome 12 startups that will present their projects through a pitch to investment funds, business angels and experts who will financially support the initiatives.

The awards day will include 3 exchange and meeting formats. The “one to many” will be about entrepreneurship and the desire to start its startup project through twenty conferences. The “one to few” will present the information essential for the creation of its business, with a dozen testimonials from entrepreneurs who will share their experience. Finally, the “one to one” is based on personalized meetings, with experts who will test the project ideas of the participants and share the knowledge to have before launching his project.

The prestigious jury, composed among others of Alexandre SUTRA manager at Héméra, Tiphaine BICHOT vice-president of French Tech Bordeaux, or Clovis COQU, head of Bordeaux Business, will nominate the3 winners of the awards ceremony. These 3 winners will be entitled to financial support from BPI France and physical and digital advertising spaces in the order of 30,000 euros via the Reworld Media group. A substantial help for a young company wishing to increase its notoriety.

Many partners support the event such as BNP Paribas, INPI France and Bordeaux Business. Ensuring the success of the project and the help given to startups.

In France, only 40% of entrepreneurs are women. Initiatives such as Be A Boss, which encourage women to get started in their projects, show that success has no gender.
