Bordeaux: dynamic recruitment in New Aquitaine

New Aquitaine unveils positive recruitment trends for the beginning of 2021. After a year of pandemic and containment in 2020, sectors of activity in the region are weakened. Today, the trend is to recover, which is through recruitment. A study conducted by the Synergy Group highlights the sectors most present in recruitment. These findings highlight dynamic professions and promising career opportunities. With this wave of recruitment, New Aquitaine aims to revive its activity by relying on sectors of activity with high demand.

Increase in recruitment in New Aquitaine, an encouraging finding

Since the beginning of 2021, recruitment figures have tended to be positive. Indeed, after a fall between December 2020 and January 2021, recruitment is on the rise again. Total wage employment had started to increase between the second and third quarters of 2020 by 1.7%. During the same period, interim recruitment had also soared, with an increase of 19.6%.

From January 2021, on the various contracts, it is easy to see the increase in the pace of recruitment. For Indeterminate Contracts (CDI), we spent 2500 weekly offers by the end of 2020… More than 6000 offers, in the last week of January. The same is true for Fixed-Term Contracts (CDDs), from 1,500 new weekly offers to more than 2,200 offers each week on average, in January and February.

Pharmaceutical drugs
The pharmaceutical industry is recruiting in New Aquitaine.

As for acting recruitment, the increase is also noticeable. Indeed, from mid-December, the increase begins, from 2000 weekly offers to more than 3000. This is mainly due to the increase in spot activity related to e-commerce in the run-up to the holiday season. Immediate needs to meet the demand of customers who make orders online. This result decreases slightly from January on to a cruising rate of about 2,800 weekly offers.

After the beginning of the pandemic, many companies are going through a difficult period. This is particularly the case for pillars of neo-Aquitaine activity such as tourism, catering or hotels that have been idling for a year now. Other sectors, however, are experiencing a significant increase in their volume of activity, and have significant recruitment needs.

More recruitment in certain industries

In New Aquitaine, for example, sectors that support regional economic activity are proving to be important drivers of recruitment and growth. This includes, for example, the human services sector, such as child care, caregivers and nurses. Indeed, with the growing hospital tension due to COVID-19, the need to recruit professionals from this industry is essential. This is the first most sought-after position in New Aquitaine in CDI and CDD.

Another sector most concerned with recruitment in CDI: sales. Thus, salaried or self-employed real estate agents, but also technical-commercial position, salesman or commercial engineer are highly sought after profiles.

These are positions to be filled quickly, which require immediate operationality. Experience is therefore a plus, because this kind of recruitment is primarily aimed at maintaining or developing the turnover and activity of the company even in a delicate period such as the current pandemic. Other coveted profiles, computer profiles. Indeed, with the increase in online sales and digital transformation, this type of expertise is particularly in demand.

Finally, occupations in structural shortages make significant recruitment requests. This includes maintenance technicians, accountants and maintenance workers.

The companies with the most recruitment positions in New Aquitaine are in a variety of sectors; like the (Solutia, French Hospital Federation, Kangaroo Kids); the (E.Leclerc, Lidl or Marie Blachère); the Defence (Army, National Navy); the industrial maintenance (Endel Engie) or real estate agencies (The Real Estate Exchange).

Interim, an increase in rigour that echoes the new needs of customers

Logistics recruitment is on the rise in direct relation to online sales. Indeed, drivers, truck drivers and order preparers are much more in demand with the activity of e-commerce platforms like Amazon… Or CDiscount, more locally. Without being able to make their purchases in the traditional circuit, customers turn to online sales sites. This phenomenon exacerbates the tensions associated with the lack of profiles.

BTP Construction
Bordeaux continues to expand, with the construction of new buildings.

In order to encourage applications for profiles for these occupations, companies offer tailor-made training tailored to the needs of their clients. In addition, these occupations are also open to people who do not have qualifications,in order to encourage employment and recruitment… With a hiring in CDI, a type of contract particularly sought after at the moment.

Another sector that is growing, and which has not experienced the crisis: the industry. In New Aquitaine, recruitment in sectors such as agri-food, chemical or pharmaceutical, or shipbuilding continues to grow.

Indeed, the agri-food industry now combines the authenticity of its operation and relies on digital transformation to increase its yields. Chemistry and pharmaceuticals benefit from a unique industrial tool that allows its development. They also have a competitiveness cluster, as well as seven clusters that bring together 250 companies… Thus 36 research centres in the territory of New Aquitaine. The next objective is to relocate drug production.

Finally, construction also continues to soar in New Aquitaine with increasing recruitment needs. In addition to constructionprogrammes, this sector includes the installation of fibre, or the installation of high-speed internet. These implementations contribute to the attractiveness of the territories. Finally, it helps to drive greentech and the green industry… Jobs of the future, for a more environmentally friendly world.
