Flex Office, the offices of tomorrow

Last updated:

The Flex Office is tending to become the way of working tomorrow in companies. Indeed, if there is one term that sums up these last months of the pandemic, it is adaptation and flexibility. In all areas, especially in the professional sphere, change is needed. We must adapt to guarantee the safety of all in the face of the virus. For workers who could, teleworking then replaced daily commuting to the office. But as the country resumes its activity and places itself in a dynamic of economic recovery… Companies are also organizing themselves to relaunch their activity. However, the relationship of employees with offices will evolve.

Flex Office, the face of a new work environment

The Flex Office marks a new turning point in corporate life. After several months upset by the pandemic, some employees have not yet found their way back to the offices. Teleworking makes it possible to continue your activity without taking any risks with regard to health measures. However, it significantly changes the relationship between employees and their managers. The organization of work evolves, impacted by the working environment, and by all the surrounding factors.

But after all this time, and the profound changes in the relationship of employees with work… Returning to traditional office work only would create a wedge. Today, the challenges facing businesses have changed a great deal, and the issue of quality of life at work is becoming a priority. Teleworking, widely deployed, is also not destined to disappear. On the contrary, it is even part of an operation to be perpetuated… But do not remain the only mode of work used.

Indeed, employees appreciate the possibility of alternating workspaces. At the same time come to the office, to exchange directly with colleagues and managers… But also work from home, or in third places, to break the formal and strict environment of an office. It is in this sense that the Flex Office seduces. It makes it possible to adapt to needs, to promote collaborative spaces instead of compartmentalized spaces. For companies, this form also makes it possible to turn to smaller offices, but also more adaptable. Because with the Flex Office, not all employees will be in the office at the same time.

The idea of creating this type of space seduces. So much so that 55% of companies are ready to turn to the Flex Office, to improve the quality of life of employees, in a totally modular space.

Collaborative workspaces are multiplying after the pandemic.

New spaces to co-build

The interest of the Flex Office is to upset the codes of classic offices. Fixed spaces, where everyone has their own office, their own assigned workspace. This does not always promote exchanges or social interactions, especially if offices are compartmentalized. Today the Flex Office, they are completely free workspaces, to change positions at will; But also workspaces adapted to promote collaborativework.

The office of tomorrow will be hybrid. An affirmation that allows to show that the evolution will be important, and will change the relationship of the teams with the offices. However, starting a change of this magnitude quickly would not be a good idea. Employees could oppose it, if the change does not correspond to them. Also, transforming a traditional workspace without consulting all its employees would be a very bad idea.

By interviewing employees and managers, managers see more clearly what the vision of the ideal office is, but also the motivations. This then makes it possible to define a framework adapted to all, taking into account the current use, and the long-term objectives. The Flex Office then makes it possible to improve the productivity of the teams, by making them want to return to work on site. But in the face of such a change, 52% of business leaders prefer to rely on expert advice to make this transition in the best possible way.

Changing workspaces does not mean changing desktops. The central location of a company allows everyone to easily access it, even without being conveyed, especially in large cities such as Bordeaux. The Flex Office also means changing the corporate culture set up, to promote communication… But also create a climate of trust and a more adapted management.

The Flex Office is therefore well on its way to gradually erasing the traces of the traditional desktop. Invite more modularity and adaptation, to promote the well-being and desire of employees to return to work serenely …
