French Tech Bordeaux connects Jobs with Digital!

Last updated:

The French Tech Bordeaux, on the way a fully digital event. Indeed, following the second lockdown put in place on October 30, 2020 the event has been redesigned to take place online. It was unthinkable to be able to set up the event within the Palais de la Bourse. Thus, in addition to the French Tech Connect event, French Tech Bordeaux is taking up the challenge of a digitalized event. Following the impact of the health crisis and the measures put in place, many companies are forced to resort to teleworking. As a result, job interviews are conducted by videoconference. Although it seems more complicated for some candidates, FrenchTech guides candidates and invites them to adopt the best tips to succeed in these interviews of a new kind. Well beyond the uncertain nature of this period, the event is already sold out with 1,823 registered talents. On the business side, there are no less than 93 companies that are members of La French Tech Bordeaux to publish about 284 job offers.

French Tech Bordeaux has long been part of the employment ecosystem within the Metropole. Every year, it launches the French Tech Day and jobs Connect, two events around the technological and innovative ecosystem in Bordeaux. If one has been cancelled, because it cannot be insured in its original physical format, the second one adapts. As employment is one of Bordeaux’s central issues, jobs connect is digitalised to allow the meeting between candidates and companies.

French Tech Bordeaux, a partner of choice for employment

At a time when all businesses deemed non-essential were contained and closed once again, employment is at half-mast. However, many industries need to recruit, in order to cope with an explosion in the volume of applications they encounter. With the Jobs Connect, organised by French Tech Bordeaux, companies can meet their employees of tomorrow. Thus, on November 25th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the event will not be held at the Palais de la Bourse, but online. With COVID-19, physical encounters are more difficult and impossible during periods of confinement. Each profile is studied, and then has a slot with a 15-minute recruiter to convince. An appointment not to be missed to get a job.

In New Aquitaine, the COVID-19 crisis is impacting the labour market. In the third quarter of 2020, there were many job seekers: 306,050, according to the Direccte Nouvelle-Aquitaine. They are 8.9% more numerous than the best period in 2019. More locally, in Gironde, 93,890 people are looking for work. An increase of 9.1% compared to the third quarter of 2019. Indeed, with the closure of many shops temporarily or permanently, and the shutdown of activity in bars, cafes, hotels and restaurants… The economic situation is unique and unprecedented. The New Aquitaine region is particularly dynamic for the arrival of companies from the capital or elsewhere.

Adapting events through digital, an alternative to sustain

For events like the one organized by French Tech Bordeaux, many have gone from a physical format to a digital format. This helps to maintain important events and maintain a certain dynamism and presence in the region. This allows us to continue to guide and advise business leaders who want answers to move forward. Answers to current questions about aids to continue their activity, but also feedback from experience… A necessary adaptation, and a clear importance of the place of digital in the daily life of Bordeaux. Digital takes place in sectors of activity such as real estate, with virtual tours. It compensates for the lack of physical activity in some shops, including the introduction of e-commerce. This is a springboard to pass over the COVID-19 wave.

The year 2020 is punctuated by containments, business closures, but also the difficulties of returning to normal activity. In this wake, the event also undergoes a delicate period, and must compete with ingenuity to continue to exist. Thanks to digital technology, many events carry out this challenge brilliantly and allow culture and accompaniment to continue their existence. Museums, shows, but also conferences, webinars and events continue to take place… But in a new light, a new angle.
