Good Games for Students, a charity esports tournament for businesses to help the student cause. Indeed, the aim of this inter-company tournament is to offer students opportunities for internships, alternations, jobs or simply help in everyday life. It must be said that while COVID-19 has impacted the whole of society, it has particularly affected students. Student insecurity is not new. Moreover, the phenomenon is strengthened with the arrival of the health crisis.

Today, they need help to continue their studies in good conditions. The context outlines a future that seems unclear. Students need a certain glimmer of hope to build a future. Thus, the evermore agency alongside SGN, We Are Esport and Student Pop has developed Good Game For Students. This charity tournament is supported by Clear Channel and Audiencia. Businesses will compete on May 18, 19 and 20 on the League Of Legend: Wild Rift game during the Good Games for Students tournament.

An initiative to combat student insecurity

During the health crisis, students were often referred to as forgotten about the health crisis. Indeed, the crisis has impacted all audiences and even more so the already fragile public. Students have long been a fragile audience subject to precariousness. According to FAGE’s note, on the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on students 38% of the student population is a scholarship holder. At the same time, 20% of students live below the poverty line in France. In particular, they are fragile in terms of access to care, the issue of mental health, but also access to basic necessities.

The health crisis of COVID-19 has only exacerbated existing problems. As a result, students who no longer have access to their schools find themselves in a situation of isolation. They are often in a state of ill-being or even a digital divide. On the other hand, the cost of food and the loss of paid activities have made the situation even more difficult. Students can no longer enjoy university meals at suitable rates and have often lost their jobs or have had their internship period postponed.

Faced with the situation, action must be taken for this poor public. So actors like the association Butter In Their Spinach help students to get by in a key period for their future life. The association distributes food to young people in need. The Good Game For Students tournament, sponsored by SGN, We Are Esport, Student Pop, Clear Channel France and Audencia, will allow the association to continue to implement its actions. Indeed, it involves a fundraiser for the benefit of the association. On the other hand, Student Pop, which offers missions to students, is launching an appeal and has been joined by Jobteaser, the Student, and Article 1. Behind this call, the idea is to build a team of volunteers to distribute food parcels to students.

They will find themselves in a big tournament that aims to develop social bond in a period when human contact is lacking. A positive synergy should emerge from this extraordinary meeting.

Therefore, within each participating company it will be necessary to form a team. It will have to consist of three employees. The latter will be coached before the tournament by two student gamer. Following, the objective for the company participating in the Good Games for Students, is to provide an internship offer, alternation or contract in CDD or CDI. So, on May 18, companies will compete on the League Of Legend game. Next, there will also be a highlight of the offers. The day of May 19 will focus on meetings and exchanges with companies. Finally, during the day of May 20, there will be friendly matches as well as the appeal for donations for the association of Butter In Spinach.

Businesses are becoming aware of the role they have to play with the younger generation. It must be said that it is she who constitutes the talents of tomorrow. So if this initiative is part of a complex period, it should be made to last over time. Indeed, youth insecurity has been a long-standing problem and it would be inappropriate to set aside this support once the crisis has passed.
