The Papilles Workshop, the “Suspended Time” but not solidarity

Atelier Papilles is a network of bakery and baker’s franchises, created in 2009. Today, with 30 brands across the country, including three in New Aquitaine, it offers a wide range of products, renewed every six months. Committed to a CSR approach, Atelier Papilles is also committed to solidarity. The brand intends to develop altruism towards the neediest, especially in this delicate period, in the aftermath of confinement. A solidarity action, destined to be sustained, based on a phenomenon born in Naples, Italy…

Atelier Papilles, a committed and supportive actor in the service of well-eating

Atelier Papilles is a bakery like no other. Indeed, in addition to offering breads, pastries, sandwiches or pastries, the company is anchored in a CSR approach. It places humans at the heart of its functioning, and takes action in its work in favour of the environment. To do this, the brand uses only 100% French flours to make its bread, and is committed to limiting food waste. For example, it is part of the partners of the Too Good To Go app, an application that offers unsold signs at broken prices. In addition to offering an economical alternative to households, it reduces its waste production. This approach allows him to be a committed player in favour of organic farming, and producer of quality breads. But L’Atelier Papilles does not stop there, and proposes a strong solidarity action, a first for the bakery sector.

Started in the Beauvais franchise, the initiative of the “Suspended Wand” seduces. So much so that the concept extends to other franchises in the country. Modelled on the “Suspended Coffee”, the hanging baguette is a solidarity action between customers and the brand. Indeed, customers can buy a baguette, but leave without. It is then available free of charge to a person in need who requests it. During the confinement, where time seemed to be suspended, the initiative met with great success. Franchises can choose to donate their hanging baguettes to charities or food banks. A hand outstretched to the other, where solidarity prevails. To support its commitment, L’Atelier Papilles doubles each hanging baguette. Every week, Beauvais has 250 hanging chopsticks. A strong demonstration of everyone’s commitment and solidarity.

The offer of the Papilles Workshop is varied: breads, pastries, sandwiches and pastries…

Bordeaux, a city where companies are committed to solidarity

A sign from Atelier Papilles is located in Eysines, not far from Bordeaux. It will also be part of this solidarity program, offering chopsticks hanging from customers. Outside the bakery, other retailers offer solidarity actions to offer coffees and drinks to those in need. For example, it is the commitment of the “Chez Fred” bar, which offers customers to pay for suspended coffees. As with Atelier Papilles’ hanging baguettes, Chez Fred allows customers to pay for a coffee they won’t eat, but that they keep for someone who needs it. This initiative extends throughout the country, and even in many countries that are working for a future of solidarity. Finally, another initiative is developing in France, and has recently moved to Bordeaux: Le Carillon. A network of solidarity carried by merchants and individuals that proves its worth.

Neighbourhood merchants (bars, cafes, restaurants and other businesses) offer certain services to homeless people. For example, access to the facility’s toilets, or the provision of a wifi network, with a socket to charge your phone. These are small gestures that facilitate the daily lives of those in need, a demonstration of altruism and strong solidarity. Finally, as with the steps initiated by L’Atelier Papilles and others, individuals can also make a gesture. Hanging coffee, or hanging baguettes are all small gifts that allow to reach out to those in need. An initiative that does not seem to be running out of steam.
