Every year, with the arrival of Spring, the city of Bordeaux hosts the International Wine Challenge within it. Indeed, the 43rd edition of the competition will take place in Bordeaux on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th April 2019. An event that makes perfect sense in one of the international wine capitals, in the presence of many connoisseurs and producers of the best products in the world.
The largest international wine competition held in France
Created in 1976, the International Wine Challenge is regularly organized by the CDV (Competition des Vins – association law 1901) located near Bourg, not far from Bordeaux. Its mission is to select the best vintages in the world. Each year, during two mornings, about 5,000 wines from 38 different countries are presented and savoured in Bordeaux by more than 800 experienced professionals and consumers. Thus, the International Wine Challenge is the oldest of the major international wine competitions. This title is part of a historical and certified quality approach. It attests to the seriousness, credibility, technicality and experience of the organization.
Indeed, it sets up the event for the most discerning wine lovers. The competition has been around for more than 40 years and brings together many wine lovers from the Bordeaux region. More than 4000 samples are tasted blind each year by Bordeaux enthusiasts. During the competition, there is a strong diversity of bottles: Red, White-dry, sweet-sweet white, Rosé and Effervescents wines are on the programme of the tasting.
A vector of international notoriety and development
This certified competition has been accredited by the European Community since 1986 and is organised according to the rules of the “International Code of Wine and Wine Wine Wine And Wine Practices”. This code allows the administration of the competition in sound and balanced ethical and wine rules. These rules make it possible to ensure the proper functioning of a tasting. It is therefore an international event of reference in winemaking. Indeed, the most important and reputable wines in the world are available for tasting.
The results of the competition will be announced on April 19, 2019 (six days after the end of the event). A special awards ceremony will also be held on May 12, 2019 to reward the best wines. Wine professionals from some 40 countries travel to participate in the Challenge. For the winners, this is a great networking opportunity as part of an international expansion.
Indeed, the winners of the competition will be able to present their winning bottles on a reserved stand, at the next Vinexpo event in Hong Kong. Indeed, Vinexpo is the reference show for the promotion of wine. All the world’s wine and spirits operators are regularly present. This show takes place in Bordeaux every odd year. A showcase of products from around the world for exclusively professional buyers from five continents, Vinexpo is also a place of exchange and debate for enthusiasts. Many Bordeaux fans find a real satisfaction and enjoy a good international reputation. In addition, a large-pressed broadcast campaign is being carried out in favour of the winners of the contest. The award-winning wines will benefit from a good promotion via articles in the specialized magazine “Sommeliers International” . Indeed, it is a must-have relay for wine professionals and discerning amateurs. The magazine enjoys an exclusive partnership with the French Sommellerie (more than 1300 members) and international (54 countries). Articles inserted in print or web format will highlight the competition and its winners.
Moreover, the winners will have private access to Avenue des Vins. Avenue des Vins is a European web platform for connecting winemakers, whether they are professionals or consumers. The International Wine Challenge offers the winners a subscription at a preferential rate to be referenced. In addition, the winners of the contest will have their winning bottles broadcast on the social networks of the Competition. This can potentially offer for high visibility with their community. Finally, the award-winning wines will also be distributed to a database where contacts more than 5000 international buyers and global press players are listed.
