Qobuz, the music platform for its employees

Qobuz is a French music platform. Created in 2007, it aims to offer optimal sound quality. Thus, the music experience is the platform’s priority, with HD audio content, creating a competitive advantage. Like any company, Qobuz is obliged to telework its employees. Telework remains “the rule for all activities that allow it” according to Minister of Labour Elisabeth Borne. Nevertheless, telework brings additional costs to employees, both in terms of electricity, water and equipment to work. It is with this in mind that the Qobuz platform has developed advantages for their employees being teleworking. Apart from the additional financial costs, psychological support is also an essential aspect of telework. Thus, this aims to keep the motivation and morale of the employees alive.

Qobuz, its place with its employees

Founded in 2007 by Yves Riesel and Alexandre Leforestier, Qobuz is a French music download and streaming platform. The aim of this platform is to meet the requirements of audiophiles and music lovers. Indeed, Qobuz offers special subscriptions, based on the quality of the audio, downloading and buying music. The special feature of this platform is that it offers a quality of listening on CD and Hi-Res. In other words, the listening quality is superior to the usual MP3 format, bringing it closer to what the artistic directors wanted. The sound experience is therefore the priority of the Qobuz service. Apart from the quality of listening, Qobuz wants to differentiate itself from other music platforms by offering a unique experience through proposals, recommendations and documentation. Thus, the Qobuz style is a style in its own right, chosen for its users.

Thus, in this period of health crisis, the employees of the company Qobuz had to adapt to changes in work habits. Like many French employees, telework is compulsory in order to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid. Indeed, being set up quickly and unthredly during the first confinement, telework is now anchored in habits. Thus, further reflection has given way to a number of measures aimed at Qobuz employees. Thus, the platform grants employees packages and budgets in order to cover telework costs. This is particularly the case for electricity, water and costs to create a good working environment at home.

In addition, they have also put in place support measures to maintain a social link despite the distance generated by telework. Weekly meetings, sports and remote coaching, office attendance planning, are measures that help employees stay the course.

Covid-19, the importance of supporting teleworkers

The Covid-19 crisis has a strong impact on the psychological state of employees. Indeed, telework has been widespread for a year now. If properly implemented, telework brings autonomy, self-reliance, flexibility but also the possibility of reconciling family and professional life. In addition, it also saves employees valuable time usually wasted on transportation to get to work. Nevertheless, contact with the work environment and colleagues are greatly reduced or completely digitalized. This creates real consequences on the mental and physicality of employees. Thus, isolation, loss of motivation but also lack of physical activity are important consequences. Working from home with a curfew prevents employees from carrying out weekly physical activity and thus creates a significant sedentary lifestyle.

To remedy this, companies need to put in place a number of measures. This is to counter the negative effects of telecommuting. Thus, the establishment of daily points or a minimum weekly is essential in order to maintain a social link. In addition, the creation of a presence schedule that allows employee turnover can bring diversity to everyday life. Qobuz is therefore committed to implementing this rolling principle as soon as the health situation allows. Some companies encourage their employees to do regular physical activity, allowing them to let off steam both physically and mentally. Sport improves concentration, the ability to analyze, solve problems and stimulate memory.
