Really Flowers, flowering local

Flowers has been a reference in flower sales since 2012, driven by values that are an integral part of its DNA. Among these values, it addresses the eco-responsible and ethical dimensions. At a time when consumers are more concerned than ever about buying from local businesses, Carrement Fleurs has made it its goal. Thus, the brand only collaborates with short circuit producers, and offers only seasonal flowers. A way to support the local economy, in line with customer expectations. After the containment period, the activity of Carrement Fleurs is experiencing an unprecedented acceleration.

Flowers supports the local economy

Post-confinement makes consumers want change. Change interior decoration, habits, even housing… This period has changed people’s behaviour, and raises awareness of economic issues. Indeed, it is well known that COVID-19 and the resulting containment will affect the national economy. The first affected, businesses, want to resume a sustained activity to get back on track. Local producers and businesses rely on the solidarity and mobilization of customers close to them. Flower growers are also affected. Offering flowers is a tradition that is well established in French mores, especially for special holidays. That’s why Fleurs, carrement, exists, with its network of franchises. To date, it has 37 stores in the country, including two on the Bordeaux Metropolis, in Eysines and Sainte-Eulalie.

By not offering flowers from foreign countries, Carrement Fleurs chooses to be part of a short circuit approach. This choice echoes an unprecedented health situation, where countries interrupt their imports and exports of products. Thus, by consuming more “local” companies and customers favor the tricolor know-how, a guarantee of quality. 47% of French people consider a product to be local when it is produced less than 50 kilometres from home. To support them, in the regions, initiatives are multiplying. Partnerships, solidarity platforms, special operations… These are all measures that support the local economy of traders and producers to pass the dreaded end-of-year milestone. In New Aquitaine, solidarity is growing and offers solutions to help and promote “local consumption”. The region is dynamic, and encourages eco-responsibility and short circuit.

Put the producer at the centre of the circuit to boost the local economy

New Aquitaine is promoting solidarity measures to help producers sell their short-circuit products. Consumers are receptive to it, wanting to consume more natural products. This is evidenced by the development of organic culture, through food or wine. These are areas where New Aquitaine shines, fertile ground for the development of solidarity platforms. For example, the CCGAD has put together a series of maps with the contact details of the different producers according to their activity. Indeed, the maps show producers in food, gardening, waste management, or tourism. The latter aspect is also one of the pillars of the region, attracting tourists from all over the world every year. However, this habit has changed slightly, with the restriction of travel abroad following COVID-19.

At the same time, the region facilitates contact between local producers and end-consumers. It has created a solidarity platform that lists all producers and allows customers to order directly from them. There is no such thing as a return to the consumption of natural products and short circuit. Another initiative, the Farmer’s Drive, also facilitates access to products from farms live. The producer establishes himself with his orders in strategic points of the Bordeaux Metropolis, and allows customers who have placed orders to retrieve their basket. A beautiful initiative, which seduces and finds its audience, and which would be very wrong not to last after the crisis…
