Digital transformation, impacts on product quality

The digital transformation of companies is an increasingly widespread process. Indeed, the Covid-19 health crisis has strongly contributed to this as well as consumer demands on the origins of companies’ products. These factors therefore push and encourage companies to become more digital in order to continue to meet customer needs. The collaborative platform QIMAone has thus carried out a survey to analyze the stakes of this digital transformation on supply chains. Thus, digitizing supply chains makes it possible to ensure foolproof quality and conformity of products.

The health crisis has therefore played a major role in the digitalisation process. Thus, even the smallest businesses and shops have had to comply with it in order to make their activity continue. Adapting to the situation has therefore become necessary for companies not to close down.

Digital transformation of supply chains, the impacts of Covid-19 on quality

In order to analyze the impacts of the digital transformation of supply chains,QIMAone carried out a survey. QIMAone is a collaborative platform offering solutions to digitize compliance and quality management in international supply chains. The aim is to promote the transparency of supply chains in order to guarantee the quality of supply and products.

Thus, the survey carried out by QIMAone is based on more than 700 companies of large transformation goods. These companies have globalized supply chains for their supply. The health crisis has created uncertainties about the context of world trade. It is therefore interesting to analyze the challenges of the digitalization of supply chains. Indeed, Covid-19 has strongly impacted companies, particularly on customer relations but also on quality. The survey revealed that 14% of companies that have not yet passed the digital transformation milestone have encountered problems with the quality of their products. Indeed, these companies still manage their supplies manually. This has had an impact on their business.

QIMAone is carrying out a study to observe and analyze the challenges of the digital transformation of supply chains.

In addition, companies are under increasing pressure to ensure the transparency of their supply chains. Indeed, customers are more sensitive to the origin of products and to respect for the human factor during production. Thus, only 23% of the companies surveyed think they have identified all the suppliers in their supply chain. Many grey areas are still present and are risks of so-called “wild” subcontracting.

Nevertheless, the Covid-19 health crisis has nevertheless accelerated the process of digital transformation of supply chains. Indeed, according to the study, 63% of respondents say they have implemented new digital solutions for supply chains in 2020.

Digitalization of companies, a process that has become mandatory

The Covid-19 crisis has been a real accelerator of digitalization within companies. Indeed, companies have had to implement new solutions for their customers. We have thus observed an explosion in the creation of websites, e-commercesites, click and collect services etc.

Several bodies have mobilized to promote the digitalization of companies in 2020. Indeed, it was essential to develop your own digital tools to carry out your business despite everything. Local shops have found themselves at the heart of this need for digital transformation to keep their business going. Several aids allow them to accompany them in this digitalization. Indeed, some companies could not afford to call on a professional to create a website or an e-commerce. This is why some bodies have offered their services on a voluntary basis in order to support local shops.

The health crisis has therefore forced companies to digitize, to the delight of consumers. Indeed, digitalization brings benefits both to customers but also to companies. Thus, they can now reach a wider target thanks to their new digital solutions implemented.
